MD to Blender bone orientation

Ask about specific settings, like fabric properties, or the difference between the sewing tools. These would be things you would expect to see in a software manual.

MD to Blender bone orientation

Post by EratoTiaTuatha »

I'm working on visualizing some fashion designs in MD and that includes simulating the outfits in a few different poses. That said, I do additional details in Blender afterwards and I don't want to re-do said details for each pose manually, so getting a workable rig back out of MD is key.

My problem is that I don't know what the correct bone orientation is for importing an MD-made FBX into Blender. I've tried various combinations via trial and error but I can't seem to find the correct one. Automatic bone orientation works to a degree, but some bones are still pointed in random directions, so it's not a solution.

Has anyone had any luck importing a rigged MD avatar back into Blender?
